MG Motor India has recorded a total sales of 4315 units in August 2021, which is over 51% higher than the same month of previous year. All three MG SUVs – Hector, Hector Plus and ZS EV are said to be generating volume for the British carmaker in the country. The company has revealed that its MG ZS EV registered more than 700 units (highest ever) since its launch.
Rakesh Sidana, Director-Sales, MG Motor India, said that MG dealerships have been witnessing higher conversion rate of enquiries on walk-ins and seeking more inventory. There is a severe shortage of chips and it’s expected to continue till the end of 2021. The company is mobilizing its global resources to increase production and meet customers’ demand during the festive season.
The MG Astor will be the next big launch from the British carmaker to challenge Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos. The mid-size SUV is likely to debut in the second week of September, 2021. The automaker confirmed that the Astor will be the first vehicle in its segment to offer Level 2 ADAS (advanced driver assistance systems). It’s a suite of active safety features such as Lane Departure Warning, Lane Keep Assist, Adaptive Cruise Control, Rear Drive Assist, Automatic Emergency Braking, Intelligent Headlamp Control, Forward Collision Warning, Lane Departure Prevention and Speed Assist System.
The new MG SUV will also be the brand’s first SUV to feature an in-car assistant with AI (artificial intelligence) that supports voice commands and performs tasks. The Astor features the Concept of Car as a Platform (CAAP) software that’s formed on technologies such as Blockchain, Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence and more. Under the hood, the new MG Astor will employ a 1.5L, 4-cylinder engine with mild hybrid system making power worth 141bhp and 240Nm of torque. The SUV can be had with either a 6-speed manual or a CVT automatic gearbox.
