MG Astor Interior Images, Features Leaked Ahead of Launch

MG Motors India is ready to introduce the new Astor mid-size SUV in the second week of September 2021. Ahead of its official unveiling, the interior images and details of the vehicle have been emerged online. The new MG SUV will offer three steering modes – Dynamic, Normal and Urban. Features such as 9 element LED DRLs, rear washer, wiper and defogger and Android Auto and Apple CarPlay will be standard across the MG Astor model lineup. Similar to the Gloster, the upcoming MG Astor SUV will have a ‘Brit Dynamic’ badging across the variant range. Some of its other key highlights include LED boomerang headlamps, rain sensing wipers, a red leather dashboard with turbine air vents, 6-way electrically adjustable driver seat and manually adjustable co-passenger seat.

The British carmaker has already confirmed that the Astor will be the first vehicle in its segment to offer Level 2 autonomous technology. It includes several features including adaptive cruise control, automatic emergency braking system, forward collision warning, lane keep and departure assist, speed assist system, rear drive assist and intelligent headlamp control.

The Astor will also be the brand’s first vehicle to feature a personal AI assistant system that supports voice commands and performs activities. The system will have the voice of the Paralympic athlete and Khel Ratna Awardee Dr. Deepa Malik. It will also be the first MG car to offer Concept of Car as a Platform (CAAP) software that includes technologies such as Blockchain, Machine Learning, AI and more.

The list of features will also include a digital instrument cluster with i-Smart connect, a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system with multiple connectivity options, wireless charging, a 360 degree camera, ventilated front seats, a panoramic sunroof, electronic stability programme, 6 airbags, dual-tone alloy wheels, roof mounted spoiler, LED front and rear lamps and more.

In India, the MG Astor is likely to be offered with a 1.3L turbo petrol engine that’s good enough for 163PS and 230Nm. Transmission options will include a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed automatic.
