In the month of October 2020, MG Motor India managed to sell 3,625 units of the Hector and Hector Plus SUVs. It’s the highest ever monthly sales for both models. The British carmaker retailed total of 3,536 units of MG Hector in October last year, registering 6 per cent growth. The MG ZS EV recorded total sales of 125 units last month. Talking about the MG Hector, the model lineup was recently expanded with three new dual-tone variants priced between Rs 16.84 lakh – Rs 18.08 lakh (ex-showroom). There are two dual-tone paint schemes – Glaze Red with Starry Black and Candy White with Starry Black. The SUV also gets a new anniversary edition with 4 new features including a Medklinn in-car kit, air purifier, a 26.4cm display screen and wireless mobile charger.
The British carmaker has also started working on the MG Hector facelift, which was recently caught testing in Vadodara. The test mule was equipped with dual-tone, larger 17-inch alloy wheels along with a new front grille. At presently, the Hector SUV comes with three engine options – 2.0L turbo diesel (170bhp/50Nm), 1.5L turbo petrol (143bhp/250Nm) and 1.5L petrol with 48V mild hybrid system. Transmission choices include a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed DCT automatic.
MG Motor India has already confirmed that its next product will hit Indian roads sometime next year. It’s likely to be the petrol iteration of the MG ZS SUV that will be put up against the cars like Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos. The model might feature a 1.5L petrol motor delivering power worth 112bhp and 150Nm of torque. Both manual and automatic gearboxes are likely to be on offer. In terms of price and positioning, the MG ZS petrol will sit below the Hector.
