Ola S1, S1 Pro Electric Scooter USA Launch Confirmed For Early 2022

Ola Electric recently announced prices of its first electric scooters – S1 and S1 Pro – in the country. While the base model costs Rs 99,999, the S1 Pro is being offered at Rs 1,29,999. One must note that these prices are ex-showroom and includes FAME II subsidy, but exclude state subsidy. The e-scooters will soon be available for purchase and their deliveries will begin from October 2021.

Here, it locks horns against the Bajaj Chetak, TVS iQube, Ather 450 and the newly-launched Simple Energy One that cost from Rs 1.42 lakh, Rs 1.01 lakh, Rs 1.13 lakh and Rs 1.10 lakh respectively (all, ex-showroom).

Now, the company is planning to launch the Ola S1 and S1 Pro electric scooters in the U.S market. Replying to a tweet, Bhavish Aggarwal, Ola CEO, revealed that the Ola electric scooter will hit the U.S. shores by early next year. Ola’s Tamil Nadu based manufacturing facility will serve as production hub for the scooters. Its global export is set to begin by the starting of fiscal year 2022. Read – Ola S1 Vs Simple One

Talking about the Ola S1 and S1 Pro, the electric scooters come with a 2.98kWh and a 3.97kWh battery pack respectively. While the former delivers a claimed range of 121km, the latter one offers 181km on a single charge. The scooter features a ‘Hyperdrive motor’ that makes a peak power of 8.5kWh and 58Nm of torque. The S1 variant can do 0 to 40kmph in 3 seconds and offers a top speed of 90kmph. The S1 Pro is capable to accelerate 0 to 60kmph in 5 seconds and attain a maximum speed of 115kmph.

The new Ola electric scooter comes with two riding modes – Normal and Sports, while the S1 Pro additionally gets a Hyper mode providing a top speed of 115kmph. Both variants have been equipped with single-sided suspension and disc brakes. The S1 and S1 Pro ride on 110/70-R12 MRF front and rear tyres.
