MG Astor Gets 10.1-inch Touchscreen; More Images, Details Released

MG Motor is all set to launch the much-awaited new Astor mid-sized SUV in the Indian market in the month of September or October 2021. The company has already announced that the new MG Astor will be equipped with several segment-first features. Ahead of the official launch, MG Motor has released new images and details of the SUV.

MG Motor has announced that the Astor mid-sized SUV will come with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto as standard in all variants. The interior images reveal that the new MG Astor will come with dual-tone interior scheme – black and red. The upper half of the dashboard is finshed in black, while the lower half is wrapped in Red leather upholstery.

The company has also confirmed that the new MG Astor will get a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system, which will be compatible with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay along with personal AI-assistant. It will also come with the JioSaavn app for music/videos. The SUV also gets the industry-first persoal AI assistant and first-in-segment Autonomous Level-2 technology.

The personal AI-assistant presents human-like emotions & voices and can give detailed information on every topic through wikipedia. It will engage the people in the car and is powered by i-Smart Hub. It is a platform on which the partnerships, services, and subscriptions of CAAP will reside. It will allow customers to personalize their set of services.

The new i-Smart Hub system hosts subscriptions and services such as maps and navigation with MapMyIndia, Jio connectivity and the Blockchain protected vehicle digital passport by KoineArth & more. The MG Astor owners will also get access to music on the JioSaavn app along with a feature of reserving a parking slot through a head unit (powered by Park+ – select cities to begin with) in the car.

The new MG Astor mid-sized SUV design details include massive hexagonal front grille with chrome elements, and LED headlamps with DRLs (Daytime Running Lamps). The LED DRLs can double as turn indicators and LED tail-lamps. Previous reports reveal that the new MG SUV will offer three steering modes – Dynamic, Normal and Urban. The vehicle will get rain sensing wipers, 6-way electrically adjustable driver seat, manually adjustable co-passenger seat, etc.

MG Astor is reportedly to come with two petrol engine options – a 1.5-litre 4-cylinder naturally-aspirated petrol and a 1.3-litre turbocharged petrol. While the naturally-aspirated petrol engine will produce around 120bhp and 150Nm of torque, the turbocharged engine is capable of producing 163bhp of power and 230Nm of torque. Both manual and automatic gearbox options will be on offer.
