Ola electric scooter is surely one of the much-awaited two-wheeler launches of this year. The two-wheeler manufacturer has been promoting the model with tagline “Ready or not, a revolution is coming” and hashtag #JoinTheRevolution. Launch, Bookings
The first electric scooter from Ola will see a market release in coming weeks. Its official launch date, however, is yet to be announced by the company. Pre-bookings were commenced from 15th July. Interested buyers can reserve the vehicle by paying an initial sum of Rs 499 via the company’s website. The token amount is fully refundable in case of cancellation. The two-wheeler maker revealed that the e-scooter gathered over 1 lakh bookings within 24 hours of opening of pre-launch bookings. It makes the Ola scooter the ‘most pre-booked scooter’ in the world.
Variants, Colours
Recently, Ola Electric filed trademark applications for Series S, S1 and S1 Pro nameplates in the country. These names are likely to be used for the electric scooter variants. The model range could be called Ola Series S electric scooter that will include two variants – S1 (entry-level) and S1 Pro (top-end). Features and battery capacity may vary variant-wise. Ola has already revealed that its new electric scooter will be offered in 10 colour schemes including 3 Pastel, 3 Metallic and 3 Matte shades. The Pastel palette has Red, Yellow and Blue colours, Matte shades are Black, Blue and Grey and Metallic paints are Pink, Silver and Gloss.
Range, Top Speed
The upcoming new Ola Series S electric scooter will offer a range of 150kms on a single charge. It will be capable to do 0 to 45kmph in 3.9 seconds and attain a maximum speed of above 100kmph. Its official battery capacity other powertrain details are yet to be revealed.
Top Features
Ola has confirmed that its new electric scooter will provide the largest underseat storage space in its segment. It will be big enough to accommodate two helmets. Some of other key features will include a digital instrument console, smartphone connectivity, cloud connectivity, removable lithium-ion battery, front telescopic suspension, alloy wheels and more.
Charging Options
The Ola Series S electric scooter can be charged via home chargers that will be provided at the time of purchase. The company is planning to setup ‘Ola Hypercharger Network’ across the country. It will provide multiple charging options including the high speed Ola hyperchargers. Initially, there will be 5,000 charging points across 100 cities and it will gradually be increased to 100,000 stations across 400 cities. Ola Hypercharger Network will be the world’s largest EV charging network. Ola’s Tamil Nadu-based manufacturing facility has an installed capacity of 10 million electric scooters per annum. In the first phase, it will produce 2 million units on annual basis.
