The Indian electric two-wheeler manufacturer, Okinawa Autotech Pvt Ltd. has introduced an all-new electric scooter in the country. Called the Okinawa Praise, this new vehicle is claimed to be India’s one of the most powerful electric scooters that also offers a class-leading top speed of 75kmpl. Interestingly, it can cover a range of 170km to 200km on a single charge.
The Okinawa Praise electric scooter is available at Rs 59,889 (ex-showroom, Delhi). At this price point, it will take on Hero Nyx and Hero Photon. The Praise is the flagship e-scooter of the Haryana-based two-wheeler maker. In the company’s product lineup, the all-new Praise electric scooter has been positioned above the Ridge, which was launched in January 2017.
With an aim to expand its dealership network in India, Okinawa will establish 150 dealerships towards the end of 2018. It will be further increased to 500 outlets by 2020.

Unlike the Okinawa Ridge that comes powered by the Valve Regulated Lead Acid (VRLA) battery, the Praise e-scooter derives its power from a 72V/45 Ah Lithium-ion pack. Its power output stands at 2500 Watt, which is around 3.4bhp. The scooter comes with three speed modes – Economy, Sporty and Turbo – offering a claimed speed of 35kmph, 65kmph and 75kmph respectively. The scooter’s battery gets fully charged in just two hours.
The scooter has sporty front featuring a wide apron-mounted headlamp with a sweeping LED DRL (Daytime Running Light).The sides of the apron have two additional LED light strips enhancing its sporty look. The turn indicators are integrated on the handlebar cowl, and the handlebar has bar-end weights. It also features uniquely designed LED rear winkers. Other key highlights include central locking with anti-theft sensor fitted on the main stand, side-stand sensors, Find My Scooter function and keyless entry.
The Praise e-scooter runs on 90/90-12 tubeless front and rear tyres. Dimensionally, it measures 1,970mm in length, 745mm in width and 1,145mm in height. It has a loading capacity of 150kg. The wheelbase and ground clearance stand at 12-inches and 170mm respectively. The scooter is available in three colour options – Matte Blue Black, Matte Golden Black and Purple Black Double Tone.
The Okinawa Praise comes equipped with a telescopic (hydraulic with gas charge) front fork with gold finish and dobule shocker with dual tube technology. Stopping power for the scooter comes from the front double disc and rear disc brake. It also gets E-ABS (Electronic – Assisted Braking System).
