Nissan Kicks e-Power SUV Under Development – Report

The Nissan Kicks e-Power SUV will be first launched in Latin America.

The Japanese carmaker is working Nissan Kicks e-Power electric hybrid SUV that might debut in 2020. The new model will be first launched in Latin America, followed by other markets. In India, the company will introduce its globally popular Leaf electric hatchback this fiscal year. The company is also considering the Nissan Note e-Power for the Indian market.

The Nissan Kicks e-Power might also make its way to our market in future. Though, there is no official word on the same. Nissan’s e-Power all-electric system includes a petrol powertrain and an electric motor. While the former charges the battery and works as a range-extender, the latter delivers power to the wheels. Similar to the pure electric vehicles, it also consists of a power generator and inverter ensuring instant torque delivery and smooth acceleration. Read – Nissan Leaf EV Is Soon Coming To India

In September 2018, Nissan announced its strategy for India that includes new products launches, optimization of flexible manufacturing and strengthening its dealership network and R&D facilities with its Alliance partners. As of now, the Japanese carmaker is doing final launch preparations for the Nissan Kicks premium compact SUV that’s scheduled to go on sale in January, 2019.

Official bookings for the SUV have already been commenced across the nation. In India, the Nissan Kicks will be gun up straight against the Hyundai Creta and Renault Duster/Captur. Based on locally-developed low-cost platform, the new Nissan SUV is estimated to be priced around 10 lakh for the entry-level variant and Rs 16 lakh for the top-spec model.
