Next SUV Launches From Maruti, Hyundai, Tata, Mahindra

India’s top four car manufacturers, Maruti Suzuki, Hyundai, Tata Motors and Mahindra & Mahindra are ready to kick start the new year with the launch of new SUVs. While the Indo-Japanese automaker will roll out its first compact Coupe SUV – Maruti Baleno Cross, Hyundai and Tata will give mid-life update to their popular Creta and Harrier SUVs respectively. Mahindra will introduce its first pure electric SUV – XUV400 – in early 2023. Here’re some key details of the aforementioned upcoming new SUVs.

Maruti Baleno Cross

Maruti YTB SUV

Maruti Baleno Cross (codenamed YTB) will make its first appearance at the 2023 Delhi Auto Expo in January. The model is likely to go on sale a month after its official unveiling. It will be sold via Nexa dealership and take on cars like Nissan Magnite, Honda WR-V, Hyundai Venue and Renault Kiger. Under the hood, the new Maruti SUV is likely to feature the updated 1.0L Boosterjet petrol engine making 102bhp and 150Nm. It could also be boosted with the mild hybrid technology. Hyundai Creta Facelift

The 2023 Hyundai Creta facelift will be the next big launch from the South Korean automaker in India. The SUV is expected to hit showrooms before the end of this fiscal year. Noticeable changes will be made to its exterior and interior, while the engine-gearbox combinations will remain intact. The Creta facelift will get the brand’s new parametric grille merging neatly with the LED DRLs, updated front bumper with slimmer and wider air-inlet. It will also get slightly repositioned headlamps, updated tailgate design and new LED taillamps. Tata Harrier Facelift

While there is no official word on the updated Tata Harrier’s launch timeline, the media reports suggest that the SUV’s new model could be unveiled in early 2023. It might be put up on display at the 2023 Delhi Auto Expo. Major feature upgrades will be made to the model. The 2023 Tata Harrier facelift could be the brand’s first model to come with ADAS (advanced driver assistance system). It might also get a 360 degree camera, updated touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity. A few changes will also be made to its design. Though, the new Harrier will continue to come with the 170bhp, 2.0L diesel engine and two gearbox options. More details here…

Mahindra XUV400

Mahindra XUV400 charging

Bookings for the new Mahindra XUV400 will start in the first week of January 2023 and its deliveries will begin by the end of the month. Initially, it will be made available across select 16 cities. Powertrain system of the electric SUV includes a 39.5kWh battery pack delivering a combined power of 148bhp and 310Nm of torque. It offers a claimed range of 456kmgs as per Indian driving cycle- MIDC. Mahindra says that the XUV400 can do 0 to 100kmph in 8.6 seconds and attain a maximum speed of 150kmph.
