2023 Honda City Facelift In India – Sportier, ADAS, No Diesel

The new 2023 Honda City facelift, which was recently caught testing in Thailand, is now spotted in Pune. While its official launch timeline is yet to be revealed, it’s expected to hit our roads sometime next year. Minor changes are likely to be made to its exterior and interior, while the powertrain setup might remain unchanged. However, the India-spec version will receive some different cosmetic and feature upgrades than the model retailed in the South-East Asian markets.

The latest spy image shows that the City facelift will get newly-designed alloy wheels and revised taillamps. Upfront, there will be a bigger black grille without the thick chrome bar, revised bumper, massive air dams and new fog lamps. Inside, the new 2023 Honda City facelift is likely to feature an updated infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity. The unit might get new connected car tech.

With the mid-life update, the Honda City sedan might get the ADAS (advanced driver assistance system) that includes lane keep assist, collision mitigation braking, road departure mitigation, adaptive cruise control and auto high beam assist. Similar to the current model, the updated one will have a digital instrument cluster, auto dimming rear view mirror, sunroof, leather upholstery, automatic climate control, tyre pressure monitor, rear view camera, hill start assist, cruise control, parking sensors and traction control. Under the hood, the new 2023 Honda City facelift will employ the 121bhp, 1.5L naturally aspirated petrol and new Atkinson Cycle 1.5L petrol hybrid powertrains. While the former offers a mileage of 18.4kmpl, the latter one is claimed to deliver a fuel economy of 26.5kmpl. Honda will discontinue the 1.5L diesel engine with the implementation of the new emission regulations in 2023.

At present, the City sedan model lineup comes within the price range of Rs 11.67 lakh – Rs 15.62 lakh (all, ex-showroom). Its facelifted model might witness a minor price hike.
