According to the Japanese media, Suzuki will introduce the next-gen Vitara, Alto and Wagon R in the domestic market before the end of 2021. In fact, the next-gen Alto will be unveiled for the domestic market in December 2020.
The report claims that the fifth-gen Suzuki Vitara will be launched in Japan in January 2021. The new model will retain the existing Suzuki Global C platform that also underpins the Vitara Brezza. However, the platform will be tweaked for the new design and engine options. The upcoming Vitara mid-sized SUV will be offered with a new 1.4-litre turbocharged petrol engine coupled to a 48V mild-hybrid system. This engine is capable of producing 130bhp of power and 253Nm of torque. Both manual and automatic gearbox options will be on offer.
The new Vitara will receive new design, all-new features, and brand new interior. It will also grow in size to offer more space inside the cabin. Previous media reports that the new model will measure around 4.2 meters in length, 1.7 meters in width and 1.6 meters in height. However, the wheelbase will remain the same at 2.5 meters.
Japanese media reports that Suzuki will also introduce the next-gen WagonR in Japan in December 2021. The 7th gen model will be bigger in size and will be offered in 5- and -7-seat options. The current-gen WagonR was first offered in Japan in February 2017. The company had introduced the facelifted model with minor changes and new naturally-aspirated engine last year.
The Japanese automaker will also introduce the sportier version of the Alto hatchback in 2021. The current-gen Alto was introduced in December 2014 and is already 6 years old in Japan. The report claims that the next-gen Suzuki Alto will be based on a lightweight platform. The 9th generation Suzuki Alto will be equipped with a new R06D type engine, which will be a 658cc engine producing 48bhp. The next-gen Suzuki Alto Sport model will receive a turbocharged engine, new interior and exterior.
