Jeep India has recently released a new video with a title – ‘The Original’. The new TVC seems to be taking a dig at the 2020 Mahindra Thar, which is scheduled to be launched on October 2, 2020.
The new video shows several pieces of art like the Mona Lisa and the Taj Mahal. Adding to it, the video also shows the inventions and spectacular landmarks in the past. What’s interesting is that the video shows Indian connection in the form of Mahatama Gandhi’s revolution and the Taj Mahal. The video also says that originals are never followers and that they can be imitated but never duplicated. A Willys Jeep is also shown in the video with the tag ‘There’s Only One’ below it.
The new-gen Mahindra Thar shares styling cues from the Jeep Wrangler. For people not in the know, FCA won a case against Mahindra in the USA. The Mahindra’s Roxor design was found a copy of the Jeep. The company has to change the design of the Roxor including the grille.
Talking about the new Thar, the lifestyle SUV will be offered with 2 engine options – a 2.2-litre turbocharged diesel and a 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol. The former is good for 150bhp and 320Nm of torque, the oil burner produces 130bhp of power and 320Nm of torque. Transmission options will include a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed torque convertor automatic. The SUV gets 4WD with low-ratio transfer case as standard across the range; however, a more affordable rear-wheel-drive model could join the line-up at a later stage.
