2022 is going to be an exciting year for the auto enthusiasts as several new models (especially SUVs) are slated to hit roads. Here’s a brief on the next big SUV launches from India’s top automakers – Maruti Suzuki, Hyundai and Mahindra. All the upcoming models are the new-generation versions.
New-Gen Maruti Brezza SUV
The second-generation Maruti Brezza will be the next big launch from the Indo-Japanese automaker in the country. With the generation change, the model will drop the prefix ‘Vitara’. The 2022 Maruti Brezza will come with improved styling, new connectivity features and a stronger hybrid powertrain. Rumour has it that the SUV might get a factory-fitted sunroof, lane change assist and a 360 degree camera for the very first time. It could also be offered with the connected car tech. Under the hood, the new Brezza will feature the same 1.5L K15B petrol engine with the stronger 48V hybrid system replacing the existing 12V mild hybrid setup.
New-Gen Hyundai Tucson SUV
The South Korean automaker will give updates to its highly popular models including Venue, Creta, Tucson (new-generation) and Kona EV. The 2022 Hyundai Tucson will carry the brand’s new “Sensuous Sportiness” design language and witness significant design changes including the new parametric front grille. This around, the SUV will come with the dual-screen infotainment system with 10.3-inch display for climate control and other functions. Features such as a digital instrument cluster, two device Bluetooth connectivity, 64 colour ambient lighting and air quality monitoring system will also be on offer. For power, the new Tucson will use the same 2.0L turbocharged petrol and turbo diesel engines.
New-Gen Mahindra Scorpio
The new-generation Mahindra Scorpio is certainly one of the biggest car launches of this year. The SUV will receive comprehensive design changes and feature upgrades along with the powerful engine setup. The 2022 Mahindra Scorpio will be made available with the 2.0L turbo petrol and 2.2L turbo diesel motors delivering 130bhp (lower variants)/ 170bhp (higher variants) and 155bhp with 360Nm respectively. This will make it more powerful than Hyundai’s Alcazar. Both manual and automatic gearboxes will be on offer. The new Scorpio will be bigger and wider than the existing model.
