The new-generation Mahindra Scorpio is certainly one of the important new car launches of the next year. While its official launch date is yet to be announced, the model is reported to arrive in the month of June. The SUV’s new model will witness comprehensive cosmetic changes and feature upgrades along with the powerful engines. Reports suggest that the new 2022 Mahindra Scorpio will come with the 2.0L, 4-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine that will come in two states of tune – 160/170bhp for higher variants and 130bhp for the lower variants.
There will also be a new 2.0L, 4-cylinder mHawk diesel engine that will be good enough for 155bhp and 360Nm. The Scorpio won’t have any direct rival in India, but it will compete against the Hyundai Alcazar. Hyundai’s SUV comes with the 2.0L, 4-cylinder petrol and 1.5L, 4-cylinder diesel engines offering 159bhp with 192Nm and 115bhp with 250Nm. That means, the new Scorpio will be way more powerful than the Alcazar.
The SUV can be had with either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed torque convertor automatic gearbox. While the higher trims will be exclusively offered with the AWD system, the RWD will come as standard. The new Mahindra Scorpio 2022 might also see improvement in terms of comfort levels, driving quality and performance. Based on the body-on-frame ladder chassis, the new 2022 Mahindra Scorpio will be bigger and wider than the current generation. It will have more cabin space and features to offer. Some of its key features will include all LED headlamps and rear lights, sequential turn indicators, a 9-inch touchscreen HU infotainment system with latest smartphone connectivity, connected car features, dual zone climate control, a 360 degree camera, a sunroof, push button start, terrain response modes, a digital MID, multiple airbags and many more.
