New Tata Safari Booking, Launch Details; To Rival XUV500

The new Tata Safari has been unveiled on 72th Republic Day of India. The carmaker has confirmed that the official bookings for the SUV will begin on 4th February 2021, followed by its launch. Booking amount, however, hasn’t been revealed.

The new Safari, which was unveiled as Gravitas at the 2020 Auto Expo, is essentially the bigger and premium version of the Harrier. It will be Tata’s flagship SUV in the country that will be positioned against the MG Hector Plus and new-generation Mahindra XUV500.

New Tata Safari Engine

Based on the Omega Arc platform, the 2021 Tata Safari derives its power from the same 2.0L, 4-cylinder Kryotec diesel engine that does duty in the Harrier. The motor pushes out a peak power of 170bhp at 3,750rpm and 350Nm of torque between 1,750rpm – 2,500rpm.

The SUV can be had with either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed torque convertor automatic gearbox. Initially, it will be made available with front-wheel-drive (FWD) system only.

The 2021 Tata Safari comes with both 6-seat and 7-seat layouts featuring a bench-seat and captain seats setup in the middle row respectively. The SUV has dual-tone (Black and Beige) interior theme with features such as an 8.8-inch touchscreen infotainment system, 9-speaker JBL audio system, a 7.0-inch digital display in the instrument cluster, leatherette upholstery, iRA (Intelligent Real Time Assist), 6-way power adjustable driver’s seat, terrain response modes, a panoramic sunroof (claimed to be best-in-segment) and more. Buyers gets a new Royal Blue, Orcus White and Daytona Grey new colour schemes with the new Tata Safari. The SUV features the brand’s Impact 2.0 design language. Some of its key design elements include a signature grille with tri-arrow chrome motif, Xenon HID projector headlamps, dual function LED DRLs with turn indicators, dual-tone front bumper, flared wheel arches with side cladding, stepped roof, 18-inch machined alloy wheels, shark fin antenna and twin light LED taillamps.
