The company claims that the Harrier EV concept is designed on the Land Rover-derived OMEGA ARC platform, which is combined with Tata’s Gen 2 EV architecture. The platform is heavily re-engineered to adopt electrification. Tata engineers have removed the fuel tank area and transmission tunnel to create a flat floor on the inside. The platform will be lighter, which should make it more energy efficient.

Battery & Range

Tata Motors hasn’t revealed anything about the battery capacity or electric motor, which will power the Harrier EV. The company has confirmed that the SUV will come with a dual motor all-wheel drive set-up. Tata could also introduce the SUV in front-wheel-drive layout. We expect the new model to feature a battery pack of around 60kWh and could offer a real-world range of around 400-500km.

Tata Motors has also confirmed that the new Harrier EV will come with vehicle-to-load (V2L) and vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) charging capacities. The Vehicle-To-Load function will allow the Harrier EV to work as a power bank to charge external devices including e-bicycles, laptops and others. The V2V will allow the car to charge other electric vehicles.

Design & Interior

The Tata Harrier EV concept appears close to production, and also previews the design for the updated versions of the Harrier and the Safari. The production-ready model is likely to retain most of the styling from its concept. The SUV received significant design changes to differentiate it from the regular ICE Harrier.

The Tata Harrier EV comes with split headlamp setup with a new LED light bar running across the width of the SUV. It features a new blanked-off front grille and a redesigned front bumper that accommodates blackened housing for the main headlamp cluster, and sharp creases. It also has a revised central air intake with a blanked-off panel and EV-specific elements.

The side profile appears largely identical to the regular model; however, it gets a new ‘EV’ logo on the fenders and large wheels. It also comes with flush door handles. At the back, the Harrier EV concept has all-new tail-lamps with a new LED light bar that runs across the width of the tailgate. It comes with an all-new rear bumper with new body cladding.
