Mahindra XUV400 Launch Price Rs 15.99 Lakh; Nexon EV Rival

The much-awaited new Mahindra XUV400 electric SUV has finally been launched at an introductory price of Rs 15.99 lakh (ex-showroom). The introductory prices are applicable for the first 5,000 units. Bookings for the new XUV400 electric SUV will commence from January 26, while deliveries will begin from March 2023.

The new XUV400 is available in 2 variants – EC and EL – with the former coming with two chargers – 3.3kW and 7.2kW. The EC variant with 3.3kW charging is priced at Rs 15.99 lakh, while the EC variant with 7.2kW charger is tagged at Rs 16.49 lakh. The top-spec EL variant is priced at Rs 18.99 lakh (ex-showroom).

XUV400 EV Vs Nexon EV – Prices

The XUV400 is positioned against the Tata Nexon EV, which is also available with two battery pack options – 30.2kWh and 40.5kWh – offering a certified range of 312km and 437km respectively. The Nexon EV Prime with smaller battery is priced between Rs 14.99 lakh and Rs 17.50 lakh, while the Nexon EV Max is available in the price bracket of Rs 18.34 lakh to Rs 19.84 lakh.

The XUV400 with smaller battery costs Rs 15.99 lakh, while the bigger battery variant is priced at Rs 18.99 lakh. Both models are priced quite similar; however, the XUV400 is longer and has bigger dimensions than the Nexon EV.

XUV400 Electric Range, Specs & Charging

The new Mahindra XUV400 is available with two battery packs – a 34.5kWh with EC variant and a 39.4kWh battery pack with EL variant. The batteries power the front axle-mounted electric motor that pushes out 150bhp and 310Nm of torque. It is claimed to achieve 0-100kmph in just 8.3 second before hitting a top speed of 150kmph.

Mahindra XUV400 Bookings

The Mahindra XUV400 electric offers three driving modes – Fun, Fast and Fearless. These modes adjust the steering and throttle response and also change the level of regenerative braking. The 34.5kWh battery pack is claimed to offer a range of 375km, while the 39.4kWh battery offers a driving range of 456km on a single charger.

Using a 50kWh DC fast charger, the battery can be charged from zero to 80 percent in less than 50 minutes. The battery can be fully charged using a 7.2kW or 3.3kW AC charger in 6 hours 30 minutes, and 13 hours, respectively.

In terms of dimensions, the new Mahindra XUV400 is 4,200mm long, 1821mm wide and 2600mm tall, and has a wheelbase of 2600mm. The SUV has a boot space of 378-litres that can further be extended by up to 418-litres.
