New Suzuki Vitara, New Alto Global Debut Details Out

Suzuki Motor is ready to give a generation change to its three popular models – Vitara SUV, Alto and WagonR hatchbacks. All three models are reported to launch in the Japanese market by the end of 2021. While the all-new Alto will have its world premiere in December 2020, the new Suzuki Vitara is reported to debut in January 2021. The new Suzuki Vitara will underpin the modified version of the Global C platform that has already been used in the India-spec Vitara Brezza.

The fifth-generation Suzuki Vitara will witness significant design changes along with more feature-loaded interior and new powertrains. Most of the cosmetic updates are likely to be made at the front end. The SUV will be bigger than its current generation. Its wheelbase, however, will remain unchanged. In Japan, the new Vitara SUV will be offered with a 1.4L Inline 4 Boosterjet petrol engine with both manual and automatic gearboxes. The gasoline motor pushes out a peak power of 130bhp against 253Nm of torque. The petrol engine will be paired to a mild hybrid system with a 48V lithium-ion electric battery.

Next-gen Suzuki Alto Render

Talking about the new-generation Suzuki Alto, the hatchback’s 9th generation model will be designed on a lightweight platform. At the heart, the 2021 Alto will feature a new R06D type 658cc turbocharged engine making power close to 48bhp. Reports suggest that the Japanese carmaker is also working on sportier version of the hatchback that might be revealed in October, 2021.

As of now, there is official word on the new Alto and Vitara SUV India launch. Maruti Suzuki is co-developing a mid-size SUV with Toyota that will be put up against the Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos. The model will be built on the Toyota’s Raize DNGA (Daihatsu New Global Architecture) platform. We expect that the new-generation Alto might come to India sometime next year.
