Korean automaker, Hyundai is gearing up for the launch of its new entry-level hatchback – codenamed AH2 in the Indian market. The new model is expected to be the new-generation Santro hatchback. According to Team-BHP, Hyundai has recently conducted a customer survey clinic for market research and study. The company also showcased the upcoming Santro hatchback in a near-production avatar.
Talking about exterior, the new Hyundai AH2 hatchback gets big sized headlamps and high-set fog lamp unit. The rear profile is identical to the Grand i10, featuring bulky tail-lamps and prominent black inserts. The window line comes with Honda Mobilio-like kink that runs towards the rear passenger glass. Inside the cabin, the new Hyundai Santro gets a Grand i10-like steering wheel with controls for audio and phone, dual-tone black and beige finish to dashboard, seats with fixed headrests and power window controls placed behind the gear lever. Instead of touchscreen, it gets the music system similar to the one found in Tata Tiago. Feature list includes electrically adjustable wing mirrors with turn indicators and a rear wiper. The engine specifications for the car are yet to be revealed, but report claims that the company will offer a factory-fitted CNG Kit. This CNG Kit variant will be offered to both taxi market and private car buyers and will be around 50,000 pricier than the regular petrol-only variant.
Likely to come as a replacement for the Hyundai i10 hatchback, the new AH2 is expected to be launched in August 2018. It will rival the likes of Maruti Celerio, Maruti Wagon R and Tata Tiago. This model could also impact the sales of Renault Kwid 1.0L and other entry-level cars.
