Maruti Suzuki has some really big plans for this year. The Indo-Japanese automaker has lined-up a range of new models including multiple facelifts, new-generation versions and an all-new mid-size SUV. The company will also bring in the much-awaited Jimny off-road in its 5-door version by mid 2022. The model will be positioned against the upcoming Mahindra Thar 5-door and Force Gurkha 5-door.
The new Maruti SUV (codenamed YFG), which will be developed under Toyota and Suzuki’s partnership, is reported to hit roads just before 2022 Diwali. It will lock horns against cars like Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos and MG Astor. In order to further strengthen its SUV market, the Indo-Japanese carmaker will introduce a compact SUV coupe based on the Baleno’s platform. It’s likely to come with a 1.5L petrol engine coupled with a stronger hybrid technology.
Talking about the facelift, Maruti Suzuki will give mid-life updates to the Baleno premium hatchback, Ciaz sedan, WagonR hatchback and Ertiga and XL6 MPVs. The updated Maruti Baleno will witness significant changes inside and out, while its engine setup will remain unchanged. It’s reported to launch in the last week of February 2022. The new Baleno will come with a larger, free-standing touchscreen infotainment system with wireless smartphone connectivity, connected car technology, Heads-Up Display (HUD) and 6 airbags.
As mentioned above, Maruti Suzuki’s highly popular WagonR hatchback will receive a mid-life update this year. Details of the new model are scanty. Though, it’s likely to come with slightly updated design such as revised front grille and bumper, new headlamps and newly-designed alloy wheels. The automaker might introduce the updated infotainment system along with a bunech of new features.
The second-generation Maruti Brezza will be the next big launch from the Indo-Japanese automaker in the country. For the first time, the SUV will come with the factory-fitted sunroof, wireless charging, a 360 degree camera, and wireless smartphone connectivity. It might also be offered with the 48V stronger hybrid system.
