New Maruti Suzuki YTB SUV Coupe – More Details Revealed

Maruti Suzuki is very aggressive with its product strategy, as it aims to regain its lost market share. The company has already launched the new Brezza, new Baleno and the new-gen Alto K10 along with updated versions of its existing range. Seeing the rising demand for SUVs, MSIL is now preparing to launch around 4-5 new SUVs in the country in the next 2 years.

Maruti Suzuki has recently revealed the new Grand Vitara compact SUV, which will be positioned against the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, VW Taigun, Skoda Kushaq and the MG Astor. This SUV will be launched in September 2022. Production of the new SUV has already been commenced at Toyota’s production facility in Bidadi, Karnataka. It will be the first Maruti Suzuki to feature a strong hybrid tech in the country.

Maruti Suzuki will also launch the new SUV Coupe, 5-door Jimny and a new 7-seater SUV in the country. Codenamed YTB, the new Maruti SUV Coupe will be launched in the first quarter of 2023. The new model is reportedly to be unveiled at Auto Expo 2023 in January and launch could take place in February 2023.

The new Maruti Suzuki YTB Coupe SUV is likely to be based on Suzuki’s HEARTECT lightweight platform that underpins Baleno hatchback. If reports are to be believed, the new SUV Coupe could be called the new Maruti Baleno Cross. The testing of the new Maruti SUV Coupe has already been commenced.

To be positioned between the Brezza & the Grand Vitara, the new Maruti YTB SUV Coupe will be sold exclusively through NEXA premium dealership network. Going by the spy images available online reveals that the overall silhouette seems identical to Baleno. The design elements of the SUV Coupe are shared with the Grand Vitara and the Toyota Yaris Cross. It is reportedly to be the production version of the Futuro-e concept, which was unveiled at Auto Expo 2020.

The rear profile of the SUV Coupe seems inspired by Toyota’s Yaris Cross that has also been spotted testing in India. It has the high-mounted sleek LED DRLs, low-set headlamps and trapezoidal grille with chrome highlights, which are similar to the Grand Vitara. The Coupe SUV has black body cladding, squared-off wheel arches, sporty alloys, boot-lid integrated spoiler, raked rear windshield and prominent bumper.

It is reported that the new Maruti YTB SUV Coupe will receive Suzuki’s Boosterjet petrol engine with a higher degree of electrification. As a reminder, MSIL had briefly launched the Baleno RS with a 1.0L Boosterjet petrol engine. It could also receive a 1.5L K15C petrol engine with a mild-hybrid system. The SUV Coupe is also expected to receive a 1.2-litre 4-cylinder petrol engine with manual and CVT gearbox.
