Maruti YTB SUV Coupe – Baleno Cross Debut At Auto Expo 2023

Maruti Suzuki will launch the new Alto K10 and the Grand Vitara SUV on August 18 and September respectively. The company is also preparing the next-gen Swift hatchback and an all-new SUV Coupe, codenamed YTB. In fact, MSIL has started testing the YTB SUV Coupe that is scheduled to be launched in early 2023.

It is expected that the Maruti YTB Coupe SUV will be unveiled at the 2023 Auto Expo in January. The new model will be based on Suzuki’s HEARTECT platform that underpins the new Baleno and the Glanza. It is rumoured to be called the Maruti Baleno Cross; however, MSIL is yet to make an official announcement on the same.

What’s interesting is that Toyota is also testing the Yaris Cross on the Indian roads. It is expected that Toyota will also launch its own version of the Baleno Cross. Both models are likely to share styling cues from the Yaris Cross, which is also evident from the spy images.

To be positioned between the Brezza and the Grand Vitara, the upcoming Maruti YTB Coupe SUV will be sold exclusively via NEXA premium dealership network. It is reportedly to be the production version of the Futuro-e concept that was unveiled at 2020 Auto Expo.

The silhouette seems identical to Baleno, the design elements are shared with the Grand Vitara and the Yaris Cross. In fact, the rear profile largely resembles the Toyota’s Yaris Cross on sale in overseas markets. The spy images reveal the high-mounted sleek LED DRLs, low-set headlamps and trapezoidal grille with chrome highlights, which are similar to the Grand Vitara. The Coupe SUV has black body cladding, squared-off wheel arches, sporty alloys, boot-lid integrated spoiler, raked rear windshield and prominent bumper.

Previous media reports claim that the new Maruti YTB SUV Coupe will be powered by Suzuki’s Boosterjet petrol engine with a higher degree of electrification. For people not in known, Maruti Suzuki had briefly introduced the Baleno RS with a 1.0L Boosterjet petrol engine. It could also receive a 1.5L K15C petrol engine with a mild-hybrid system.
