Hyundai has recently launched the new-gen Tucson SUV in the Indian market. It was speculated that Hyundai will also launch the new-gen Elantra; however, a new media report claims that the company has no immediate plans to bring this executive sedan in our market. In fact, the company has fast paced the production of the new-gen 2023 Hyundai Verna sedan that has already been spotted testing in Korea as well as in India.
The report further claims that 2023 Hyundai Verna new gen will grow in size and will also introduce in more markets including the US. The bigger size and spacious cabin will help the new Verna to compete against the Honda City, Skoda Slavia and the VW Virtus. The bigger size, high-end features and more powerful engine of the new Verna will eliminate the need for a separate executive sedan in our market.
Codenamed BN7, the 2023 Hyundai Verna will share styling cues from the new-gen Elantra sedan. It will be designed on the brand’s new ‘Sensuous Sportiness’ design language, which we have already seen on the new Elantra and the Tucson. The sedan will have a wider grille that merges neatly with the headlamps.
It will come with a new parametric-jewel-pattern grille with turn-signal integration wide. The new cascading grille at the front comes with integrated full-LED headlamp and aggressive bumper. The spy images reveal that the sedan will have a fastback-like styling with a tapered roof. At the back, the sedan is likely to get the high-tech “H-Tail Lamp” that creates a Hyundai flying H logo-like shape, a wing-type lower bumper treatment and a tapered roofline to enhance the coupe-like look. The new sedan is also expected to come with a long list of features including ADAS technology.
The 2023 Hyundai Verna is likely to share the engine-gearbox options with the Creta SUV. It is expected to be offered with 3 engine options – a 1.5L petrol and a 1.5L diesel along with a more powerful 1.4-litre turbo-petrol engine. Both manual and automatic gearbox options will be on offer. The sedan could also get a 1.0L turbo petrol engine with a DCT gearbox.
The report claims that the 2023 Hyundai Verna new gen sedan is expected to make global debut sometime this year. The sedan could also make its public debut in India at Auto Expo 2023 in January, while launch could take place in mid-2023.
