Maruti WagonR Electric Spotted Again, But Won’t Be 1st Maruti EV

The Maruti Suzuki WagonR electric hatchback has been caught on camera again during its test rounds after several months. The spotted test mule was completely undisguised revealing its design details. Design and styling of the Maruti WagonR electric is exactly similar to the regular ICE model. Though, you can notice a few changes at the front end. The model features a slim, newly-designed grille and headlamps. The front and rear bumpers have also been revised. The front unit has narrow air intake flanked by fog lamp assembly.

Interior of the new Maruti WagonR electric is still a mystery to us. Though, we expect it to come with a slightly revised instrument cluster, different gear selector, new air-con controls and vertically stacked AC vents. Its cabin layout and most of features will be similar to the regular model.

It would be quite early to comment on its powertrain. Though, the reports suggest that the Maruti WagonR electric could be offered with a 72V electric drive and a 10.25kWh lithium-ion battery pack. Its driving range will be around 180km on a full charge.

As of now, there is no clarity whether the Maruti WagonR EV will be launched in India or not. Though, the Indo-Japanese has confirmed that its first electric car will hit roads in 2025. Maruti Suzuki’s Gujarat-based facility will serve as production hub for the model. The company aims to setup two new manufacturing plants at IMT Kharkhoda in Sonipat, Haryana.
