Maruti Suzuki has planned three new product launches for the next year including the Baleno Cross SUV Coupe, 5-door Jimny and a three-row MPV. All three models will make their first public appearance at the 2023 Auto Expo in January. While the new Maruti Baleno Cross (codenamed YTB) will target the budget SUV buyers, the Maruti Jimny 5-door will be positioned as a lifestyle off-road SUVs. Both models are reported to go on sale by April and by August respectively. The report further states that new Maruti MPV will see a release during 2023 festive season (i.e. around October – November).
Interestingly, Maruti Suzuki’s new C-segment MPV will be based on the soon-to-be-launched Toyota Innova Hycross. It will be the brand’s first re-badged model and the most expensive one in the product portfolio. The new Maruti MPV will be sold via Nexa dealerships. Its prices are expected to start around Rs 20 lakh and go up to Rs 30 lakh (ex-showroom). Toyota’s Bidadi-based plant will serve as production hub for the three-row MPV. The same facility produces the new Maruti Grand Vitara SUV.
A few noticeable changes are expected to be made at its front fascia including Maruti Suzuki’s signature badge, new grille, bumper and headlamps. It will be the first Maruti model in India to come with the ADAS (advanced driver assistance system) suite. We expect it to be packed with goodies like a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system, dual zone climate control, 9 speaker JBL sound system, electrically adjustable second-row seats with ottoman function, powered driver seats with memory function and a panoramic sunroof. That means, it will offer all features available on the Toyota Innova Hycross.
Besides exterior and interior, the powertrain setup will also be carried forward to the new Maruti MPV. It will be offered with the 172bhp, 2.0L naturally aspirated petrol and a 186bhp, 2.0L strong hybrid powertrain options. Its mileage is likely to be around 21kmpl.
