Maruti Suzuki To Launch 2 SUVs & 1 MPV By Festive Season 2023

Maruti Suzuki is getting aggressive with its product strategy for the Indian market. The company had launched the new Brezza, new Baleno, updated XL6, new Alto K10 and the Grand Vitara in the country in 2022. Moreover, MSIL is now preparing a new range of new cars and SUVs for the the Indian market. The Indo-Japanese automaker will launch 3 new utility vehicles in the country in 2023. Adding to it, the existing SUVs including the Brezza and the Grand Vitara will also receive CNG option.

Maruti Suzuki will launch two new SUVs in the country by August 2023. On the other hand, the company will introduce a new MPV based on Toyota’s latest Innova Hycross in the country by festive season 2023. The company will unveil an all-new SUV Coupe, codenamed YTB and the 5-door Jimny lifestyle SUV at the 2023 Auto Expo in January. These models will be sold exclusively through NEXA premium dealership network.

Maruti Futuro Details

The Maruti SUV Coupe is reportedly to be called the Baleno Cross and will be based on Suzuki’s lightweight HEARTECT platform. The styling of the new SUV Coupe will be inspired by the Futuro-e concept, which was unveiled at the 2020 Auto Expo. The new model will share the interior and features with the Baleno hatchback. However, MSIL will add more features and make some changes to make it look different from the Baleno hatchback. It will be powered by a 1.0-litre Boosterjet petrol engine with a mild hybrid tech. This engine is likely to produce around 100bhp and 150Nm of torque. Both manual and automatic gearbox options will be on offer. It could also get a 1.2L Dualjet petrol engine with manual and AMT options.

The 5-door Maruti Jimny will make global debut at the 2023 Auto Expo. The new model will be 300mm longer and will have 300mm longer wheelbase compared to the 3-door Jimny Sierra. It is expected to be offered in 5 and 7-seat layout with side facing jump seats as optional in the 3-row variant. The new model will be powered by a 1.5-litre K15B petrol engine with a mild hybrid tech. Both manual and automatic gearbox options will be on offer. It will receive Suzuki’s advanced All Grip Pro 4WD setup with a low-ratio gear that multiplies engine torque and limits speed.  Driver can switch between two-wheel-drive high (2H) and four-wheel-drive high (4H) for off-road conditions. For extreme off-road conditions, the SUV will have four-wheel-drive low (4L).

Maruti Suzuki’s most expensive model, the Hycross based MPV will be launched during festive season, Diwali. Toyota will supply the Innova Hycross to MSIL, which will receive some Maruti specific changes before launching in our market. The new model will come with features like ADAS tech, a panoramic sunroof, electrically adjustable & ventilated front seats, powered second-row seats with ottoman function, and others. Powertrain options will include a 172bhp, 2.0-litre naturally-aspirated petrol and a 2.0-litre petrol with Toyota’s new-gen strong hybrid unit with a combined power output of 184bhp.
