Maruti Suzuki is all set to launch the new Maruti Baleno in the country on February 23, 2022. The new model will be followed by the updated Toyota Glanza in March. The updated Baleno facelift will come with several changes including all-new interior and an AMT gearbox option.
The new Maruti Baleno will come with the existing engine setup. It will get an AMT gearbox instead of the CVT in the previous model. The new AMT model will be cheaper than the CVT equipped model, and it will make automatic model more accessible to customers.
The new Maruti Baleno will be offered in six trims – Sigma, Delta, Zeta, Zeta (O), Alpha and Alpha (O). The 5-speed AMT gearbox will be offered on all trims except for the base Sigma variant. The new model will be offered in the single 1.2-litre DualJet petrol engine with idle-engine start/stop system. This engine is capable of producing 89bhp of power and 113Nm of torque. A 5-speed manual gearbox will come as standard.
The report claims that Maruti Suzuki will remove the 83PS, 1.2L naturally-aspirated petrol, CVT automatic gearbox and mild hybrid system from the new Baleno line-up. It is reported that the mileage figures of the Baleno will be marginally dropped.

The new Maruti Baleno manual will return an ARAI certified fuel economy of 22.35kmpl, while the AMT variant will offer 22.94kmpl. The updated Glanza will offer same mileage as the new Baleno. The previous model was claimed to offer 23.87kmpl with manual and 19.56kmpl with CVT gearbox. While the Baleno manual mileage is dropped marginally, the AMT gearbox offers 1.52kmpl more mileage than the CVT version.
Bookings for the new Baleno have already been commenced online or at authorised NEXA dealerships. The new Maruti Baleno 2022 will come with several segment-first features. It will come with 360 degree camera, a new larger 9-inch SmartPlay Pro+ touchscreen infotainment system, wireless Android Auto & Apple CarPlay, Navigation, connected car tech, wireless phone charging, ALEXA voice commands, Heads-Up Display, new flat bottom steering wheel, cruise control, etc. In fact, the new model will also get 6 airbags and ESC (Electronic Stability Program).
