The American SUV manufacturer has been working on an all-new small SUV that’s reported to make global debut towards the end of this year. Its global launch will take place sometime in 2023. In the company’s global product lineup, the new Jeep small SUV will sit below the Renegade that recently received a mid-life update.
– The new Jeep small SUV will be designed on Stellantis’ CMP (Common Modular Platform) that will underpin the India-spec Citroen C3 hatchback. The latter is slated to launch in coming months.
– Jeep’s new sub-4 meter SUV will be developed by engineers from Italy and India.
– It will carry the brand’s signature design language with features such as Jeep’s 7-slat grille, LED headlamps with LED DRLs, alloy wheels, black body cladding and LED taillamps.
– Reports suggest that the new Jeep small SUV will be offered with multiple engine options including a fully electric version. Though, its electric model will come sometime in 2024.
– All variants of the SUV will get an optional AWD (all-wheel drive) system.
While there is no official word on its India launch timeline, the new Jeep compact SUV is expected to arrive next year. It’s reported to be the most affordable and smallest Jeep SUV in the country.
In other updates, Jeep is gearing up to launch the new Meridian 7-seater SUV in India by mid 2022. It will be a ‘Made-in-India’ model measuring 4769mm in length, 1859mm in width and 1682mm in height. Powering the SUV will be a 2.0L, 4-cylinder turbo diesel engine that could be benefited with a 48V mild hybrid system. The motor will deliver power close to 200bhp. It will come with a 9-speed automatic gearbox and AWD configuration.
Before the new 7-seater SUV, the American automaker will bring in the updated Jeep Compass Trailhawk that’s reported to hit showrooms in March 2022. The SUV will witness minor cosmetic and feature upgrades along with the improved approach and departure angles.
