Maruti Suzuki is preparing to launch the new Baleno hatchback, which will come with significantly revised design & all-new cabin. Ahead of the launch, mileage figures, interior & features of the new Maruti Baleno 2022 has been leaked online. 1. Launch Date
Maruti Suzuki has officially announced to launch the new Baleno facelift in the country on February 23. Interested buyers can pre-book the hatchback online or at NEXA dealerships by paying a token amount of Rs 11,000.
2. Exterior Design
The new Maruti Baleno 2022 comes with all-new front fascia, featuring a wider front grille with an angular honeycomb pattern, new brushed silver strip at the base of the grille, new projector headlamps with LED DRLs and a flatter clamshell bonnet along with new bumper with larger fog lamp housings. At the back, the new Baleno comes with new tailgate design, new C-shaped LED tail-lights and reprofiled rear bumper.
3. 4 Trim Levels
The new Baleno will come in 4 trim levels – Sigma, Delta, Zeta and Alpha. Except for the base model, all three trims will come with manual and automatic gearbox options. The Zeta and Alpha trims will also have an optional variant.
4. Colours
The new Maruti Baleno will come in six exterior colour options – Pearl Arctic White, Splendid Silver, Grandeur Grey, Celestial Blue, Opulent Red and Luxe Beige.
5. Segment-leading features
The new Maruti Baleno 2022 will come with several segment-first features, which were missing in the previous model. The new model will come with segment-first Heads-Up Display or HUD, a 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Android Auto & Apple CarPlay, navigation, ALEXA voice commands and wireless phone charging, Arkamys sound system and others.
6. Safety Features
The new Baleno will come with several high-end safety and security features including 6 airbags, ESP (Electronic Stability Program), ABS with EBD, ISOFIX child seat anchorage, etc. It also comes with segment-first 360 degree camera. It is reported that Maruti Suzuki will also improve the steel quality used in the Baleno hatchback. The outer body panels and chassis will have thicker grade of steel.
7. AMT Gearbox
The biggest mechanical upgrade to the new Baleno will come in the form of new AMT gearbox. The CVT automatic gearbox will be removed from the line-up in order to introduce a cheaper AMT unit.
8. Mileage
The new Maruti Baleno 2022 manual will return an ARAI certified fuel economy of 22.35kmpl, while the AMT variant will offer 22.94kmpl. The previous model was claimed to offer 23.87kmpl with manual and 19.56kmpl with CVT gearbox.
9. No mild-hybrid tech
The new model will be offered in the single 1.2-litre DualJet petrol engine with idle-engine start/stop system. This engine is capable of producing 89bhp of power and 113Nm of torque. A 5-speed manual gearbox will come as standard. A 5-speed AMT (Automated Manual Transmission) will be offered on all the trims, except for the base variant.
10. Expected Price & Competition
The new Baleno will be positioned against the likes of the Hyundai i20, Tata Altroz and the Honda Jazz. The new model is equipped with several high-end features, which will make it slightly expensive over the previous model. We expect the new model to cost around Rs 6.5 lakh to Rs 10.5 lakh. The outgoing model is priced between Rs 6.14 lakh and Rs 9.66 lakh.
