New Mahindra XUV500, Scorpio Launch Might Delay To H2, 2021

The new-generation Mahindra XUV500 and Scorpio are surely one of the much-awaited new car launches of this year. Both models are scheduled to launch in coming months (April – June). According to a fresh media report, the SUVs launch might be delayed due to the global shortage of semiconductor chips. These chips are used for making Engine Control Units (ECUs), infotainment systems, driver aids and several electronic components. The carmaker, however, is expected to overcome the supply shortage in the second half of 2021.

The 2021 Mahindra XUV500 is reported to be the first production model to feature the brand’s new logo. The SUV will also receive a new 190bhp, 2.0L turbo mStallion petrol and 180bhp, 2.2L turbo diesel engine. Transmission choices will include a 6-speed manual and a torque converter automatic gearbox. With the generation change, the XUV500 will take a big leap in terms of features and design. The SUV is reported to get a new Mercedes-Benz inspired infotainment system, Level 2 Autonomous Driving Assist Systems (ADAS) and a panoramic sunroof.

2021 Mahindra XUV500 Launch Date

Similar to the new XUV500, the 2021 Mahindra Scorpio will get the new 2.0L turbo mStallion petrol and 2.2L turbo diesel engines. However, their power and torque figures will be different. While the gasoline unit will deliver power worth 150bhp with 320Nm, the oil burner makes 158bhp. The SUV will be offered with both manual and automatic gearboxes. If reports are to be believed, the more powerful variant of the SUV could be named ‘Mahindra ScorpioN’.

In other updates, the home-grown carmaker is planning to introduce a more powerful engine, a new removable hard-top variant and new colouur schemes to the Thar model lineup. The company is also working on the new Mahindra Bolero Neo that’s reported to be based on the TUV300. It might get a new 130bhp, 1.2L turbo mStallion petrol engine that will also be used in the upcoming Mahindra XUV300 Sportz.
