The spy images confirm that the new model will be larger and more upmarket than the outgoing car.

The 2021 Mahindra Scorpio is also expected to come equipped with a factory-fitted sunroof. The new model has recently been caught testing, and the spy images reveals a provision for a sunroof. It is expected that the production version of the SUV will come equipped with a sunroof. The sunroof feature has become hugely popular among buyers, and Mahindra will want to attract more buyers by offering this feature.

New-gen Mahindra Scorpio 2021 Grille

The 2021 Mahindra Scorpio will come with all-new design; however, the rugged boxy shape will remain intact. The front fascia has modern design elements, featuring signature Mahindra grille with vertical slats, twin-pod headlamps with integrated LED DRLs (Daytime Running Lamps), and flared wheel arches. The SUV has upright rear profile with a side-hinged tailgate. The outside rear view mirrors come with integrated blinkers. Other design highlights include roof rails, side steps and multi-spoke alloy wheels. It also gets the pull-type door handles.

The new Scorpio will come with all-new interior. The SUV looks significantly longer and wider than the current car, which should help Mahindra designers to create more space inside the cabin. It is likely to come with dual-tone brown and black interior with beige upholstery, multi-coloured speedometer, touchscreen infotainment system with smartphone connectivity, automatic AC and others. The SUV will continue to offer bench-type seat for the second row. The top-end variant will also receive front-facing third row of seats. As a reminder, the current Scorpio comes with side facing third row of seats.

The 2021 Mahindra Scorpio will be based on the modified version of the body-on-ladder frame. Called ZEN3 platform, this platform also underpins the new-gen Mahindra Thar. It will be powered by a new 2.2-litre turbocharged diesel engine, which is likely to offer around 158bhp of power. The SUV will also receive a 152bhp, 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine that also powers the new Thar. Transmission options are likely to include a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed torque convertor automatic.
