Mahindra & Mahindra is set to give a generation change to the XUV500 and Scorpio SUVs in early next year. While the 2021 Mahindra XUV500 is reported to hit showrooms in April, the new Scorpio will come before June 2021. Both models will witness significant cosmetic and feature upgrades along with a new engine setup. In fact, the new-generation versions will be bigger than the existing ones.
New Brand Logo & Name
Reports suggest that Mahindra’s new brand logo will debut with the new-generation XUV500, followed by the new Scorpio and other vehicles. In fact, the 2021 Mahindra Scorpio will come with a new nameplate. Recently, the carmaker trademarked the ‘Mahindra ScorpioN’ name that’s likely to be used for the more powerful version of the SUV.
Powerful Engines
Major change will be made under their hoods. The 2021 Mahindra XUV500 and Scorpio will come with the new 2.0L turbocharged mStallion petrol and 2.2L turbo diesel engine options. While the XUV500 petrol and diesel units will be tuned for generating power worth 190bhp and 180bhp respectively, the Scorpio petrol will deliver 150bhp with 320Nm and diesel will be good enough for 158bhp. Both SUVs will come with 6-speed manual and 6-speed torque convertor automatic gearbox options.
Improved Design
Similar to the new Thar, the 2021 Mahindra XUV500 and Scorpio will ditch their existing platforms for the new one. The SUVs will be designed by Mahindra’s North American Technical Centre in Detroit, USA and the Research Valley in Chennai. Both models will receive significant cosmetic changes especially at the front end. As mentioned above, the 2021 Mahindra Scorpio and XUV500 will be bigger than their current generation.
Advanced Features
The spy pictures confirm that the new Mahindra XUV500 will be packed with some advanced technologies including ASAD (advanced driver assistance system), Mercedes-like instrument console, radar technology, eyelid tracking system, 3D panoramic vision and more. The new Scorpio will also get a new touchscreen infotainment system, new interior theme and many more.
