New Honda BR-V 2022 Patent Images Leaked Ahead Of August Debut

After introducing the City Hatchback RS, Honda is now ready to launch a new 7-seater SUV in Indonesia. The new model was first previewed as the Honda N7X 7-seater concept. Scheduled to be unveiled in August 2021, the new model is reportedly to be called the new Honda BR-V 2022. Ahead of the launch, patent images of the SUV has been leaked on the Internet.

The production version of the new Honda BR-V 2022 will make its global debut at the Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show (GIIAS), which is scheduled to commence in August 2021. The leaked patent images reveal the SUV’s radiator grille, headlamps, bumpers and tail-lights. These parts look similar to those offered on the Honda N7X concept.

The Honda BR-V 2022 will get the brand’s Lane Watch System, which is also available in the new City sedan. There is a bulge on the left mirror of the patent image, which served as a camera mount. The Honda’s Lane Watch System monitors the left side of the car to reduce the driver’s blind spot.

The new-gen BR-V will rival the likes of the Toyota Avanza, Daihatsu Xenia, Mitsubishi Xpander and others. The 7-seater SUV will share the platform and mechanics with the City sedan. Honda claims that the new N7X concept based SUV will offer the best of SUV and MPV body styles, and will be suitable for all type of road conditions.

Honda BR-V 2022 LWS Patent

The new-gen Honda BR-V 2022 will be powered by a 1.5-litre naturally-aspirated petrol engine that also powers the Honda City. It is capable of producing 121bhp of power and 145Nm of torque. Transmission choices will include a 5-speed manual and a CVT automatic. The SUV could also receive the hybrid engine, which is offered on the City RS. The SUV could also get a 1.0-litre 3-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine that produces 121bhp and 175Nm of torque, paired to a CVT.

The Honda BR-V 2022 model will retain the SUV-ish profile, featuring upright front fascia, raised bonnet and wider air-dam. Design highlights will include sloping roofline, signature grille with a thick chrome bar, LED headlamps, dual LED DRLs, faux skid plate, large glasshouse area, strong creases and lines, black plastic cladding, split LED tail-lamps with a graphic design, etc.

The range-topping model will come equipped with Honda Sensing technology, which is the brand’s in-house developed ADAS (advanced driver assist system). Media report claims that the SUV will be offered in 4 trim levels – S, E, Prestige and Prestige HS. The Honda Sensing tech will be offered on the top-spec Prestige HS trim.
