Japanese automaker, Honda will introduce the production version of the N7X concept in August 2021. The Honda N7X concept was recently showcased in Indonesia. It is reported that the production version of the N7X concept will be called the new-gen Honda BR-V.
The new-gen Honda BR-V will first go on sale in Indonesia towards the end of this year, followed by other markets. Internally called the DG3, the new model is reportedly to be offered in multiple variants. Adding to it, the SUV will be equipped with a 1.5-litre 4-cylinder naturally-aspirated petrol engine.
The 1.5L naturally-aspirated petrol engine is the same unit that powers the Honda City and other global Honda cars. This engine is capable of producing 121bhp of maximum power and 145Nm of torque. Transmission choices will include a 5-speed manual and a CVT automatic. The report doesn’t mention about the hybrid powertrain, which powers the City in select Southeast Asian markets. Few reports also suggest that the SUV could also get a 1.0-litre 3-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine that powers the City RS in Thailand. This engine produces 121bhp and 175Nm of torque, and is paired to a CVT.
In Indonesia, the new-gen Honda BR-V or the production version of the N7X will be positioned against the hugely popular Toyota Avanza, Daihatsu Xenia and others. The new 3-row Honda N7X based SUV will share the platform and mechanical bits with the Ciry sedan. Honda claims that the new model will offer the best of SUV and MPV body styles, and will be suitable for all type of road conditions.
The new-gen Honda BR-V comes with an SUV-ish profile with sloping roof, raised bonnet, thick chrome bar on the signature grille, LED headlamps, dual-LED DRLs, wider-air-dam, faux skid plate, large glasshouse area, strong creases and lines, black plastic cladding, split LED tail-lamps with a graphic design, etc.
