New-Gen Maruti Alto 2022 – Taller, Lighter, Higher Ground Clearance

Maruti Suzuki will give a generation change to its three highly popular cars, namely, Alto, Swift and Brezza. While the second-generation Maruti Brezza is reported to arrive in mid 2022, the all-new Alto will debut towards the end of this year. The next-gen Maruti Swift will hit Indian roads sometime next year. Recently, the 2022 Maruti Alto has been caught on camera during its test rounds. The test mule with black camouflage managed to cover most of its design details.

The hatchback’s new model appears to be taller and higher than the existing version. While it retains the boxy stance, the flatter roofline gives it crossover-ish looks. The new Maruti Alto 2022 is likely to feature a new grille with honeycomb mesh pattern, larger sweptback headlamps, slightly revised bumper with new C-shaped fog lamp assembly and a sculpted bonnet. Its front fascia looks bigger and flatter than before.

Similar to the front, the rear section might receive significant changes including a newly-designed bumper and larger tailgate. Major update could be offered in the form of Suzuki’s new Heartech platform that will make the new Alto lighter than the current generation model.

Comprehensive updates will also be made inside the cabin. Details are still under the wraps. It’s reported to come with a new dashboard and central console. The automaker might equip the hatchback with a touchscreen infotainment system supporting smartphone connectivity, a semi digital instrument console, engine start/stop button and keyless entry. Rumour has it that the new 2022 Maruti Alto could be made available with a 1.0L, K10C petrol engine that’s good for 66bhp and 89Nm. Transmission options will include a 5-speed manual and a 5-speed AMT unit. The hatchback will also be available with the existing 796cc, 3-cylinder petrol motor producing power worth 47bhp and 69Nm of torque. The new Alto model lineup might get the factory-fitted CNG kit with the petrol powertrain.
