New 2021 Force Gurkha Teased Ahead of Launch – Thar Fighter

The new 2021 Force Gurkha is finally ready to hit Indian roads. The carmaker has released a new teaser image of the compact off-road SUV confirming its imminent launch. The model was first previewed at the 2020 Auto Expo and its test mules spotted testing multiple times in the country. While the off-roader retains the original upright, boxy stance and boot-mounted spare wheel, it gets newly-designed bumpers, revised headlamps with LED DRLs, new front grille and tweaked taillamps. Interior has also been revised with a redesigned dashboard, a dual-tone interior theme. The SUV has been equipped with a touchscreen infotainment system, a digital multi info display and a new instrument cluster.

The list of features also includes tilt and telescopic adjustable steering wheel, power windows, rear parking sensors, dual airbags and ABS (anti-lock braking system). The new 2021 Force Gurkha will have four forward facing seats with two individual seats in the middle row and two jump seats in the boot area. The carmaker will also offer a range of customization options with the new Gurkha SUV.

For power, the 2021 Force Gurkha will use the same Mercedes-derived 2.6L diesel engine meeting the BS6 emission standards. The motor pushes out a peak power of 90bh and 260Nm of torque. Transmission duties are done by a 5-speed manual gearbox. The compact off-road SUV will have an independent front double-wishbone upfront and a five-link, rigid-axle rear arrangement, with coil springs all around suspension setup. The new Gurkha 4WD variant will offer low range with front and rear axle differential locks.

Prices of Force’s new Gurkha SUV are likely to start from Rs 10 lakh for the base model and up go Rs 12 lakh for the top-end trim. Here, it will be placed against the Mahindra Thar and the upcoming 5-door Suzuki Jimny.
