Force Motors has confirmed that it will launch the new-generation Force Gurkha in third quarter of 2021. The carmaker claims that the new model will be “uncompromised on capability and comes packed with improved styling & features”. Besides this, the company reveals that it’s working on the 5-door Force Gurkha to challenge the upcoming 5-door Maruti Suzuki Jimny and Mahindra Thar. While the Jimny is reported to arrive sometime next year, the Thar 5-door version will see a release in 2023.
As of now, details of the 5-door Force Gurkha are still under the wraps. Unlike the 2-door version that’s placed as a lifestyle vehicle and targets off-road enthusiasts and individual buyers, the 5-door model will aim at family buyers. It will provide more space in both rear seats and the boot, combined with off-road capabilities and rugged styling. Compared to the standard model, the Force Gurkha 5-door version will be longer and have a longer wheelbase. The overall width and height are likely to remain unchanged.
Under the hood, the 5-door Force Gurkha will employ the same BS6-compliant 2.6L diesel engine delivering power worth 90bhp. The updated motor is around 5bhp more powerful from its predecessor. Transmission duties will be performed by a 5-speed manual gearbox. Similar to the standard model, it might come with the 4WD (four-wheel drive) and 2WD (two-wheel drive) options along with manual locking differentials controlled via levers on the floor console.
Talking about the 2021 Force Gurkha, the compact off-road SUV retains the original upright retro stance. What’s new here are the revised front and rear bumpers, new grille, pronounced wheel arches with claddings and 16-inch alloy wheels. Interior has been updated with a new touchscreen infotainment system, new instrument cluster, a digital MID placed between the tacho and speedometer and new control surfaces for the air-con system.
