Tata Nexon EV XZ+, XZ+ LUX Prices Increased By Rs 9,000

Tata Motors has silently increased prices of the Nexon EV by Rs 9,000. It’s the third time this year the electric subcompact SUV received a price hike. The Tata Nexon EV model lineup comes in five variants – XM, XZ+, XZ+ LUX, Dark and XZ+ LUX Dark. The entry-level XM variant and XZ+ and XZ+ LUX Dark Editions are continue to come with a price tag of Rs 13.99, Rs 15.99 lakh and Rs 16.85 lakh respectively. It’s the XZ+ and XZ+ LUX variants that witnessed price hike and now available at Rs 15.65 lakh and Rs 16.65 lakh respectively. All aforementioned prices are ex-showroom. Powertrain system of the Tata Nexon EV includes a 30.2kWh lithium-ion battery pack transmitting power to the motor mounted on the front axle. The electric motor returns a claimed power of 129bhp and 245Nm of torque. It can do 0 to 100kmph in 9.9 seconds. The Nexon EV also marked debut of Tata’s Ziptron electric technology. Its battery pack takes around 8-9 hours to get charged via standard 15A AC charger and just around 1 hour (up to 80%) via DC fast charger.

According to a recently leaked document, the carmaker will soon introduce the updated Tata Nexon EV with a slightly more powerful electric powertrain. The new model will offer a maximum power of 136bhp, which is equivalent to the Hyundai Kona EV. Compared to the MG ZS EV that has 143bhp, electric motor, Tata’s subcompact electric SUV will be around 7bhp less powerful.   

In other updates, the home-grown carmaker is gearing up to launch the all-new Tata Punch based on the Alfa platform. The micro SUV will feature Tata’s Impact Design 2.0 philosophy and share some of its design elements with the Harrier. If reports are to be believed, the Punch mini SUV will come with the 1.2L Revotron petrol and 1.2L turbo petrol engines delivering power worth 85bhp and 100bhp respectively.
