The domestic market contributed 1,70,214 units, while exports comprised 5,229 units to other OEMs and 23,921 units overseas. Maruti Suzuki’s utility vehicle (UV) sales witnessed a significant surge, doubling from 35,353 units in January last year to 62,038 units this year. The UV range includes popular models such as Fronx, Brezza, Jimny, Grand Vitara, S-Cross, Ertiga, XL6, and Invicto. However, the light commercial vehicle segment saw a decline in sales for Maruti Suzuki’s Super Carry, with total sales reaching 3,412 units compared to 4,019 units in January 2023.

2021 Maruti Swift Facelift

Driven by the increasing demand for UVs, Maruti Suzuki plans to expand its product portfolio in the coming years, venturing into new segments such as a premium 7-seater SUV, a mini three-row MPV, a micro SUV, and electric SUV and MPV offerings. Additionally, the company is set to introduce a new generation of its popular Swift hatchback and Dzire compact sedan later this year, with significant updates to design and interior features.

A major highlight of the upcoming Swift and Dzire models will be Suzuki’s new Z12 engine with mild hybrid technology. The 1.2L, 3-cylinder petrol engine will deliver a peak power of 82bhp and 108Nm of torque. According to WLTP-rated figures, the engine is projected to achieve a fuel efficiency of 23.4kmpl for the standard petrol version and 24.5kmpl for the mild hybrid version. The 2024 Maruti Swift will continue to offer manual and AMT gearbox options, further enhancing its appeal in the market.
