MG ZS Petrol (Creta, Seltos Rival) Spotted – 5 Things To Know

MG Motor currently has three models in its Indian product portfolio – Hector, ZS EV and Hector Plus. The British carmaker is planning to further expand it with the all-new MG Gloster premium 7-seater SUV that’s due for this festive season. While there is no official word on ZS petrol SUV arrival, the carmaker has been testing the vehicle in the country. Recently, a heavily camouflaged prototype of the vehicle was caught on camera. Here’re 5 important things to know about the MG ZS petrol.

1. Powerful Engine

Globally, the petrol version of the ZS SUV is offered with multiple engine-gearbox combinations. The lineup includes 1.3L turbo petrol and 1.5L naturally aspirated motors generating power worth 160bhp with 230Nm and 118bhp with 150Nm respectively. While the turbo unit can be had either with a 5-speed manual and a CVT automatic gearbox, the latter comes with a 6-speed automatic transmission.

If the India-spec model comes with these two powertrains, the MG ZS petrol will be more powerful than the Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos. The turbo-petrol and naturally-aspirated petrol motor of both its arch rivals offer power worth 138bhp and 113.4bhp respectively. In Thailand, the MG ZS petrol is being made available with a naturally-aspirated 1.5L engine that’s good for 112bhp and 150Nm. Transmission duties are done by a CVT gearbox. 2. Feature-packed Interior

Similar to the electric sibling, the petrol ZS will be packed with lots of comfort goodies and safety fitments. The top-end trim is likely to be equipped with some exclusive features such as a fully digital instrument cluster, a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, leatherette seats, power adjustable driver’s seat, a panoramic sunroof and air purifier. The safety kit will include six airbags, hill start assist, hill descent control, tyre pressure monitoring system, rear parking camera and sensors and an electronic parking brake.

3. Design Similar to Electric ZS

Upfront, the SUV will feature a wide chrome stud grille, LED projector headlamp, pronounced wheel arches with alloy wheels and LED taillamps placed below the raked windscreen. It will have compact dimensions measuring exactly similar to the electric ZS. That said, its overall length, width and height will stand at 4314mm, 1809mm and 1620mm respectively.

4. Expected Launch

As mentioned above, the carmaker remains tight lipped about the MG ZS petrol. Reports suggest that we might get the facelifted version of the SUV sometime next year. The updated model will have improved styling and better equipped interior. Read – MG Hector Plus Vs Innova Crysta

5. Expected Price
