MG Gloster Launch In October; Gets Many Segment-First Safety Features

Morris Garages recently released a couple of teasers of its upcoming Gloster 7-seater premium SUV. It will be the flagship SUV from the British carmaker in the country that’s estimated to cost around Rs 35 lakh (ex-showroom). Sources in the know tell us that the MG Gloster will be launched in the month of October.

Ahead of its official price announcement, the carmaker has confirmed that its new 7-seater SUV will be packed with several segment-first safety features including autonomous emergency braking (AEB)system, park assist, lane keeping assist and adaptive cruise control.

The adaptive cruise control, which is usually offered on high-end luxury cars, monitors the road via cameras, laser and radar and helps maintaining a preset distance from the car in front. The autonomous emergency braking system detects an imminent frontal collision and automatically applies brakes. It also provides visual and audio alerts to driver when it senses a potential impact. The auto parking assist system uses sensors to navigate and park the vehicle into the parking spot. The safety kit might also include multiple airbags, ABS with EBD, traction control and blind sport monitor.

The three-zone automatic climate control, ambient lighting, a large panoramic sunroof, an 8.0-inch digital instrument screen, a 360 degree camera, powered front seats with ventilation, heating and massage functions and leather seat upholstery will also be the part of the package.

Dimensionally, the upcoming 7-seater SUV from MG will be a mammoth. Similar to the China-spec Maxus D90, the Gloster will measure 5005mm in length, 1932mm in width and 1875mm in height. Read – Upcoming MG Cars In India

Official engine details of the vehicle are yet to be revealed by the carmaker. Though, it’s reported to come with 224bhp, 2.0L turbo petrol and 218bhp, 2.0L twin-turbo diesel engine options. Both manual and automatic gearboxes will be on offer.
