Next-gen Suzuki Vitara To Be Launched In Q2, 2021

The life cycle of the current Suzuki Vitara mid-sized SUV is nearing its end. The company has plans to launch a new version of the global SUV in the near future. We reported earlier that the next-gen Suzuki Vitara will make global debut in October 2020. However, the company will only showcase the concept or pre-production version of the SUV.

The production version of the next-gen Suzuki Vitara is reportedly to be launched in select international markets in the second quarter of 2021. The SUV is likely to be launched in Europe, Japan and Australia. This new SUV is not likely to arrive India, as Maruti Suzuki and Toyota jointly readying an all-new mid-sized SUV based on the Toyota Raize’s DNGA platform.

The next-gen Suzuki Vitara will be based on the modified version of the Global C platform, which also underpins the Vitara Brezza in India. The new model will come with new design, all-new feature-loaded interior and new engine options. There are no details about the design changes, but it is likely to get all-new front fascia and more aggressive styling.

The next-gen Suzuki Vitara will also grow in size and will measure around 4.2 meters in length, 1.7 meters in width and 1.6 meters in height. However, the wheelbase will remain the same at 2.5 meters. The increase in dimensions will help Suzuki to create more space inside the cabin.

The upcoming Vitara will be powered by a 1.4-litre Inline 4 Booster Jet petrol engine that produces 130bhp and 253Nm of torque. Both manual and automatic versions will be on offer. This engine will be coupled to a mile hybrid system with a 48 volt lithium-ion electric battery.
