Maruti Suzuki has announced that the Vitara Brezza compact SUV records 5.5 lakh sales within a short span of 4.5 years. It is the fastest model in its category to achieve this milestone. First launched in early 2016, the Maruti Vitara Brezza received a facelift version earlier this year at the 2020 Auto Expo.
The compact SUV was earlier offered with a single 1.3-litre DDiS diesel engine with manual and AMT gearbox options. This engine is capable of producing 89bhp of power and 200Nm of torque. However, the Brezza diesel was discontinued due to new BS6 emission norms. This 1.5L 4-cylinder naturally-aspirated engine is capable of producing 103bhp of power and 138Nm of torque. Transmission options will include a 5-speed manual and a 4-speed torque convertor automatic. The 4-speed automatic gearbox is available with SHVS (Smart Hybrid Vehicle System by Suzuki) mild hybrid system.
The Maruti Vitara Brezza facelift comes with dual-tone roof, striking new LED headlamps and DRLs (Daytime Running Lamps), touchscreen infotainment system, automatic AC, etc. The advanced automatic gearbox features Hill Hold Assist system along with next generation Smart Hybrid technology. The Vitara Brezza offers an ARAI certified fuel economy of 18.76kmpl for automatic and 17.03kmpl for the manual. It also features idle stop-start & torque assist functions with regenerative brake energy. The company has already sold over 32,000 units within a short span of 6 months.
The Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza directly rivals the Tata Nexon, Ford EcoSport, Mahindra XUV300, Hyundai Venue and Kia Sonet. All the rivals are available in petrol and diesel fuel options.
