All-New Hyundai i20 Launch Expected In The Last Week Of October, 2020

In the recent days, we have witnessed several new launches including the Kia Sonet and the new-gen Mahindra Thar. The trend is likely to continue for the next 3-4 months, as plethora of new cars ready to hit Indian roads. The all-new Hyundai i20 is one of the most-awaited launches of this year. Dealers have already started taking pre-bookings for the new model; however, Hyundai is yet to make an official announcement on the same.

Dealerships claim that the all-new Hyundai i20 will be launched in the last week of October 2020, while deliveries will begin in November 2020. The new i20 is designed on Hyundai’s new ‘Sensuous Sportiness’ design language, which makes it look more evolved and premium than the current model. In terms of styling, the new-gen Hyundai i20 gets all-new front fascia with large cascading grille, chunky headlamps with LED DRLs (Daytime Running Lamps), sculpted bonnet and aggressive looking fog lamps.

The side profile looks sporty, thanks to sharp edges and creases along with chrome window line. It also gets blacked-out outside rear view mirrors, strong belt line that runs across the length and sharp fin antenna. The sloping roofline gives it a sporty profile. At the back, the SUV gets all-new design with new tailgate with black treatment. The hatch gets wrap-around LED tail-lamps, which are connected by a light strip.

The cabin of the all-new Hyundai i20 shares some resemblance with the new Venue compact SUV. It comes fitted with a larger 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system with smartphone connectivity and the Hyundai Bluelink connected car technology. In terms of features, the hatchback gets air purifier with virus protection, digital instrument console, automatic AC, multi-functional steering wheel, cruise control and Bose premium sound system, etc. The hatchback could also feature powered sunroof.

The new Hyundai i20 is likely to share the engine options with the new Venue compact SUV. It will be offered with 3 engine options – a 1.2-litre naturally-aspirated petrol, a 1.0-litre, 3-cylinder turbocharged petrol and a 1.5-litre turbo-diesel. The 1.2L NA engine produces 82bhp and 114Nm, while the turbo unit is good for 118bhp and 172Nm of torque. The diesel engine is likely to offer in two states of tunes – 99bhp/240Nm and 113bhp/250Nm. Transmission options are likely to include a 5-speed manual, a 6-speed manual, a 7-speed DCT (1.0L petrol), a 6-speed iMT (1.0L petrol) and 6-speed torque convertor AT (1.5L diesel).
