Maruti Suzuki To Launch 2 New SUVs In 2022 – New Brezza, Creta-Rival

After launching the new Baleno, Maruti Suzuki is now ready to launch a wide range of new SUVs in the Indian market. The company is working on 6 SUVs including an all-electric SUV, which will be launched by 2024-25. This year, the Indo-Japanese brand will launch two brand new SUVs.

In the the first quarter of 2022-23 financial year, Maruti Suzuki will launch the new Brezza. The new Maruti Brezza has already been spotted testing numerous times on the Indian roads. In fact, the clear exterior and interior images of the Brezza have already been leaked on the web world.

Maruti Suzuki will drop the Vitara prefix from the SUV, as the new model will be called the Maruti Brezza. The new model will continue to be based on Suzuki’s Global C platform that underpins the outgoing model as well as the S-Cross crossover. It will come with significant revised design and all-new feature-loaded cabin. The SUV will have a larger touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, navigation and voice commands.

The new Brezza will have a factory-fitted electric sunroof, cruise control, a new steering wheel, automatic AC with rear AC vents and many more. The SUV will also gets six airbags, ESC, ABS with EBD, brake assist and 360 degree camera. It will be powered by a 104bhp, 1.5-litre K15B petrol engine with SHVS mild hybrid system. Transmission choices will include a 5-speed manual and a 6-speed torque convertor automatic with paddle shifters.

Maruti Suzuki will also launch the new mid-sized SUV, codenamed YFG before the end of 2022. The new model will be jointly developed by Suzuki and Toyota. The mid-sized SUV will be based on Toyota’s DNGA (Daihatsu New Generation Architecture) platform. This is the same platform that underpins the new Toyota Avanza & the Raize SUV. It will be manufactured at Toyota’s Bidadi based plant.

The Maruti YFG mid-sized SUV will look different from the Toyota’s version of the SUV, codenamed D22. The front fascia of the SUV will have design inspiration from the Toyota RAV4-based A-Cross SUV on sale in European markets. It will have split headlamp set-up with A-Cross inspired LED DRLs positioned on top.

The cabin will have a large touchscreen infotainment system with wireless connectivity, a digital instrument console, electrically adjustable driver’s seat, sunroof, multi-functional steering wheel and many more. The SUV will receive Toyota’s strong hybrid powertrain, which will be similar to the one offered on Camry sedan. Adding to it, the SUV will also get the 1.5-litre K15B petrol engine with SHVS mild hybrid system.
