Maruti, Hyundai to Launch New UVs in Early July 2023

Maruti Suzuki and Hyundai Motor India are ready to foray into new utility vehicle (UV) segments in coming weeks. While the Indo-Japanese manufacturer will bring in the Engage premium hybrid MPV, Hyundai is ready to challenge Tata Punch micro SUV with the Exter. Let’s take a look at key details of both upcoming UVs.

Maruti Suzuki Engage – 5th July

Maruti Engage front

The Engage will be the first re-badged Toyota from Maruti Suzuki, based on the Innova Hycross premium 7-seater MPV. The freshly leaked images show that the MPV will feature the Grand Vitara-inspired grille with chrome surrounds and LED headlamps on either sides. The front bumper, alloy wheels and door panels are exactly similar to the Innova Hycross. Interior details of the Maruti Engage are yet to be revealed. Though, it’s most likely similar to Toyota’s MPV. Powertrain setup will include a 2.0L, 4-cylinder, naturally aspirated petrol motor with a CVT and a 2.0L strong hybrid unit. The Engage will be the first Maruti Suzuki to get ADAS tech and the second model to come with a panoramic sunroof. More details here…

Hyundai Exter – 10th July

Hyundai Exter ambassador

Hyundai recently announced that it ropes in Hardik Pandya (renowned all-rounder Indian cricketer) as its brand ambassador for the Exter. The carmaker has already revealed that the micro SUV will come with the 1.2L petrol and CNG fuel options. While the regular petrol motor is good enough for 83bhp and 114Nm, the CNG version will offer 69bhp and 95.2Nm. There will be two gearboxes on offer – a 5-speed manual and a 5-speed AMT. The entry-level EX trim will miss out on the AMT transmission. The Exter will be the first car in its segment to come with the dashcam featuring front and rear cameras, electric sunroof with voice commands and the standard 6 airbags. More details here…
