Maruti Suzuki is developing 6 new SUVs for the Indian market. Out of these 6 models, 2 SUVs will be co-developed by Suzuki and Toyota. The company is gearing up for the launch of the new Brezza sub-4 meter SUV, which has already been spotted multiple times. Moreover, the first Suzuki-Toyota mid-sized SUV will be launched before the end of 2022.
Maruti Suzuki is also looking at alternative fuel options to counter to the rising petrol & diesel prices. The company has recently introduced multiple CNG powered vehicles in our market. Moreover, MSIL is working on electric cars for the country. The first Maruti electric SUV will be based on Toyota’s platform and is expected to be launched in 2024-25.
The company is also planning to introduce vehicles with a stronger hybrid engine. MSIL is developing a new SUV Coupe, codenamed YTB to be launched in the country in 2023. The new model will come with a stronger hybrid powertrain, which should make it more fuel efficient. Moreover, it will help the new model to be compliant with upcoming CAFE emission norms.
The new Maruti YTB SUV Coupe will be positioned above the Brezza and will rival the higher variants of the Kia Sonet and the Hyundai Venue. It could be the production version of the Futuro-e Concept, which was unveiled at the 2022 Auto Expo.
The new Maruti YTB SUV Coupe is likely to be based on Suzuki’s HEARTECT platform that underpins the new Baleno. The new model will aim at younger audience. It will be sold through NEXA premium dealerships. The new model is expected to be equipped with new high-end features. The upcoming Maruti YTB Compact Coupe SUV will be offered with a single petrol engine option. It is likely to be powered by a 1.5-litre K15B petrol engine with a stronger hybrid with a greater degree of electrification. This will help in achieving higher fuel efficiency.
