New-Gen Renault Duster – 5 Key Facts We Know So Far

According to a fresh media report, the French automaker is considering the new-generation Renault Duster for India. The final decision, however, is yet to be taken. The SUV’s new avatar will take on the segment-leader Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, MG Astor, Skoda Kushaq and Volkswagen Taigun. Here’re 5 key facts we know so far about the new Renault Duster.

CMF-B Platform

One of the biggest changes will be made to its underpinning. The new Duster will be designed on the CMF-B modular platform that can be used to develop different models. The vehicles based on this platform share floor, axle design, cabin structure and mechanical arrangement. With interchangeable components, the architecture can be adapted for different markets and customers’ requirements. Interestingly, the new platform will make the next-generation Duster to meet the global safety and emission standards.

Dacia Bigster Concept Design

All-New Design

The new Duster might share some of its design elements with the Dacia Bigster concept that previewed the company’s future 7-seater SUV. Though, it’s likely to carry the headlamp setup, front grille, pronounced wheel arches and squared off fenders from the current generation.

Advanced Tech

Renault is likely to equip the next-gen Duster with “new-age” tech and features. It’s arch rivals – Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos offer features such as a panoramic sunroof, wireless charger, ventilated front seats, automatic climate control, air purifier, electronic stability control, vehicle stability management, hill start assist and more.

Hybrid/Electric Powertrain

The new CMF-B platform will enable the automaker use electric and plug-in hybrid powertrain. While there is no official word on the same, the new-generation Renault Duster is rumoured to come with the hybrid powertrain The company might use the global-spec Renault Captur’s electric powertrain. At present, the Duster is available with the 156bhp, 1.3L turbo petrol engine in India.

When To Expect?

Official launch timeline of the new Duster is yet to be revealed by the automaker. Though, it’s likely to hit Indian roads sometime in 2023 or 2024.
