Maruti Grand Vitara Starting Price Under Rs 10 Lakh? Cheaper Than Creta

The much-awaited Maruti Grand Vitara SUV is scheduled to make global debut on July 20, 2022. Interested buyers can book the new SUV online or at authorised NEXA premium dealership network by paying a token amount of Rs 11,000. The production of the new SUV will commence from August at Toyota’s manufacturing plant in Bidadi, Karnataka.

Ahead of the launch, the starting price of the Maruti Grand Vitara is reportedly to be leaked online. The leaked source code from the Grand Vitara’s micro site reveal that the premium compact SUV from Maruti will be launched at a starting price of Rs 9.50 lakh (ex-showroom). It will be interesting to see whether the new SUV will be launched at this price or not. Official prices will be announced sometime in August 2022. At this price tag, the new Grand Vitara will be significantly cheaper than the Hyundai Creta and the Kia Seltos.

The new Grand Vitara SUV will share the engine options with the Toyota HyRyder. It will be offered with two engine options – a 1.5-litre K15C dual-jet, dual VVT petrol engine and the Toyota’s sourced 1.5-litre TNGA 3-cylinder Atkinson cycle petrol engine with a high-voltage hybrid architecture.

The 1.5L petrol with mild hybrid tech is capable of producing 101bh and 136.8Nm of torque. Transmission choices will include a 5-speed manual and a 6-speed torque convertor automatic. It will also come with Suzuki’s All-Grip AWD system, which is currently offered on the European-spec Suzuki Vitara.

The 1.5L 3-cylinder petrol engine is capable of producing 91bhp at 5,500rpm and 122Nm at 3,800-4,800rpm. It is coupled to a synchronous AC motor that pushes out 79bhp and 141Nm. The combined power output stands at 114bhp and maximum usable torque is 141Nm. It is coupled to an e-CVT gearbox.

Maruti Grand Vitara Front Teased

MSIL has released multiple teasers that reveal the Grand Vitara’s front design is heavily inspired by the S-Cross on sale in international markets. It is based on the Suzuki’s Global-C platform that underpins the Brezza and the new-gen S-Cross. The SUV has bold front fascia, featuring an aggressive hexagonal shape front grille, triple beam headlamps and new fog lamp assembly. The SUV gets more pronounced bonnet, wide central air intake and faux skid plate. The new Maruti Grand Vitara has sloping roofline and LED tail-lights, blacked-out C-pillar and roof rails, and LED tail-lights.

The new Maruti Grand Vitara SUV will share the features and multiple components with the HyRyder. It is expected to receive panoramic sunroof, leather upholstery for seats, gearbox and steering, a soft-touch dashboard, a 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless connectivity, a digital instrument console, a 360 degree camera, Head-Up-Display or HUD, connected car tech, automatic AC and ventilated front seats.
