Maruti EVX Electric SUV Testing Begins – Tata Curvv Rival

Maruti Suzuki had showcased the EVX electric SUV concept at the 2023 Auto Expo. Our sources reveal that the production version of the SUV will be launched during festive season 2024, before Diwali. The new SUV will rival the likes of the MG ZS EV, Mahindra XUV400 and the upcoming Tata Curvv & the Hyundai Creta EV.

Suzuki has started testing the new EVX electric SUV in Poland. The SUV has recently been spotted at a charging station in Krakow, Poland. The spotted model was fully covered in thick black cloth; however, the tight wrapping reveals few details. The SUV shares a close resemblance to the concept version debuted earlier this year. However, the styling has been toned down.

The big changes are made to the front fascia, which has more realistic design elements with less flares. It retains the big front fascia, sculpted bonnet design, closed off front grille and thick body cladding. The SUV has a tapering roofline with a shark fin antenna, while the rear has a roof integrated spoiler, rugged bumper and wraparound tail-lamps connected via an LED strip.

The test mule wears temporary lights and basic alloys, which will be changed in the production model. Similar to the Swift, the rear door handles are integrated into the C-pillar.

The test mule is in early stages of testing, as it has half-finished interior with wires dangling around. What’s interesting is that the SUV features a big single screen panel for the instrumentation as well as the infotainment unit. It has a clutter free dashboard layout and a two-spoke steering wheel with mounted controls and a rotary dial on the centre console. The SUV also has electrically adjustable driver’s seat.

The new Maruti EVX will be based on the born-EV or skateboard platform, which will be used for the future Maruti Suzuki and Toyota fully electric models. The new SUV will be offered with a 60 kWh battery pack with LFP blade cells and is expected to offer a range of up to 550km on a single charge. The concept was 4300mm long, 1800mm wide and 1600mm high, and a wheelbase of around 2700mm. The SUV will be produced at Suzuki’s Gujarat based plant.
